Safety at GymSeen
How we keep the gym respectful for everyone.
Last updated: March 30, 2026
Built for boundaries
GymSeen exists because the gym is a shared space with unspoken rules. Some people want to connect. Some want to be left alone. Both are valid. GymSeen makes those signals visible so everyone can respect each other's boundaries.
You're in control
- Visibility toggle — Turn off "Visible on GymSeen" and you vanish from all member lists instantly. No one knows you're there.
- Gymteractions toggle — Turn it off to signal "I'm here but don't approach me." People respect it because they can see it.
- Instant blocking — Block anyone with one tap. It's mutual and immediate. They can't see you, you can't see them.
- Report — Flag anyone for inappropriate behavior. We take every report seriously.
No messaging. Ever.
There are no DMs, no chat, no inbox, no way to send messages through GymSeen. This is intentional. The gym is not a dating app. If someone wants to talk to you, they do it in person — where social norms, body language, and gym staff are all present.
Location is a safety feature
You can only check in if you're physically at the gym (GPS-verified within 500m). This means no one can remotely browse who's at a gym from their couch. You have to physically be there. And your location is checked once during check-in — we don't track you continuously.
GymSeen does not store your check-in history or build a record of your gym schedule. Each session expires after 90 minutes. There is no way for anyone — including us — to see when you were last at the gym.
If you believe someone has joined your gym on GymSeen specifically to monitor or follow you: block them immediately, report them in the app, notify your gym's front desk, and contact local authorities if you feel unsafe.
Nods are anonymous & limited
A nod is a simple acknowledgment — "I see you." It's anonymous (the receiver doesn't know who sent it) and capped at 3 per day. Nods can't be used to send content or harass anyone. If someone has their gymteractions turned off, you can't nod them.
Photo moderation
Profile photos must be a clear photo of you. They're automatically screened by AI before going live. Inappropriate, offensive, or fake photos will be removed. Accounts with repeated violations will be suspended.
Community guidelines
GymSeen is built on mutual respect. Here's what we expect:
- Respect the signal. If someone's gymteractions are off, leave them alone.
- No harassment. Of any kind. Zero tolerance.
- No stalking. Using GymSeen to track someone's gym schedule is a bannable offense.
- No sharing. Don't screenshot or share who's at a gym outside the app.
- Be cool. The gym is better when people respect each other. That's the whole point.
